What an honor it was speaking with the patriotic members of the Colorado Springs “Kinnikinnik” Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. They embrace the principles of Patriotism, Education, and Historical Preservation. These women have given thousands of hours in service to children and adults, veterans, homeless, community service projects, and they participate in countless events throughout the year. It was deeply touching when they started the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and then recited the preamble of the U.S. Constitution. The Chaplain provided stirring words that resonated throughout the group. It was amazing to share in this faith filled event with a group of strong willed, filled with passion and energy … sassy women! While my theme was, “Making a Difference”, it was humbling to talk about that topic with women who do so much for their community and state.
Equally humbling was my time with the Colorado Springs Republican Women during their monthly meeting that same evening. This is another group of energetic, passionate, and inspiring women doing God’s work for America. Their beliefs and principles center on God, country, respect, equality, strength, and a commitment to women’s causes. I was so inspired with their commitment to this country that I became a member, and my husband became an associate member. Several of the women reach out to schools to educate students on the U.S. Constitution and what it means to be an American. Absolutely awe inspiring!
